How we measure

In recent years, it has become just as important to calculate the return on investment in training and education as other investments in the organisation. It is reasonable to assume that each amount spent on in-service training and courses should result in a financial return for the organisation. Still, many companies fail, or don’t even try, to calculate the financial results of training because they think it is complicated or even impossible. The expression ”return on investment” (ROI) is a well-know concept for most executives, but they rarely understand the ROI of education.

However, not everything has to be measured in financial terms. Just to know whether new knowledge is or is not being applied to the workplace can mean a lot to an organisation

The ROI is also an efficient way for the Human Resource department to increase their influence by measuring the results of training and education, and to be able to present this in a way that management understands. You will also be able to better assess the decisions for training, and to control the results.
